Steps

  1. Call Himawari and describe what you need Tokyo's official medical information service helps you find clinics and hospitals that handle your language and your symptoms.
  2. Or check the official hospital list The Tokyo Metropolitan Government publishes an English list of hospitals that accept foreign patients, organized by ward. Call ahead — details change.
  3. For larger hospitals, look for JMIP accreditation JMIP-accredited hospitals are certified for accepting international patients, with interpretation and support systems.
  4. Bring your insurance card With health insurance, you pay 30% of the cost. No referral letter is needed for most clinics — you can go directly.
